There is a new Netflix movie called The Boy Who Harnessed the Wind. Some of us here have watched it and give it two thumbs up. If you want to get a dramatic picture of what life is like here in Malawi, you should watch it.
A missiologist recently blogged about the movie and its relationship to another controversy in the Africa world – the Comic Relief picture taking problem. The story of the Boy Who Harnessed the Wind is genuinely Malawian. It is a Malawian solving Malawian problems. The Comic Relief controversy is about how non-Africans present Africa to the outside world. Hint: it is largely as Africans as poor and needy. It is a good read.
